Lt. Commander Richard J. Kronberger WWII • KOREA
Richard Kronberger, three of his brothers and his father spent a total of one hundred and sixty seven years serving in the navy. Richard retired as a Lt.Cdr with thirty years service. His brothers William and Edward also retired with thirty years service. His brother Robert retired as a Commander with thirty-seven years service, and his father, Chief Warrant Officer Samuel Kronberger retired with forty years service.
Sam and two of Richard's brothers, Robert and Edward, were serving together on the USS West Virginia at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor. In 1958 they co-founded the PHSA, Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.
Richard J. Kronberger enlisted in the US Navy in 1934 and rose to the rank of Lt. Cdr. in the Supply Corps. His wife, (Marie) Dorothy Kronberger, was a retired Master Sergeant in the Air Force. They are buried at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Riverside County, CA.
