 Additional Information
Last Known Activity:

Edward Maurice Kronberger was raised in Annapolis, Maryland. He came from a family that was 'all Navy'.

He served with his brother, Robert, and his father, Samuel, aboard the USS West Virginia (BB-48) during the attack on
Pearl Harbor, December 7th, 1941.

He was one of the original 11 Founders of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. Ed enlisted in the US Navy together with his three brothers and father, in 1939. He served on a decomissioned mine sweeper before being transferred to the USS West Virginia (BB-48), where he was assigned to the ship's armory. His battle station was in the Ammo. room of Turret #3. where by a miracle of God, his life was spared as he watched a bomb at his feet disintergrate, as a dud, on the deck. Ed, was then assigned to the USS Salt Lake City, where he remained for the duration of the war.

In 1955, he married Ruth McMahan of
Boston, Mass. and settled in Gardena, CA., bought an Almond grove after relocating to Torrance, CA. where he spent his retirement days. He was a very active member of Chapter #1 Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, in Gardena, CA
.
