Torpedoman's Mate, Second Class Corkery was listed as Missing in Action and later declared dead on 8 January 1946. The USS Cisco began her first war patrol on 20 September 1943, and was never heard from after that. Japanese records indicate that a submarine was attacked and sunk on 28 September in the area where the USS Cisco was the only known American Submarine. She was presumed lost in action on that date.
