At 29 I returned from a two year contract in Saudi Arabia to update myself at the UW-P. I had managed the media center of a technical college for the Saudi Ministry of Defense and sadly I found the UW-P lacking in almost every respect. After 16 months I'd had enough, sold my house and moved to England to look for another contract in the Middle East. When that didn't pan out I moved back to the States and took up residence in Phoenix where I reside to this day.
The "M": There is a large mound east of Platteville, which gives the town it's nickname: Mound City. The schools there were originally a teaching college and the other a mining (and minerals) college. The letter "M" is laid out in rocks and stones and painted white each year. I may be the largest letter "M" in the country.
