The rest of the photo was cropped on the scan. I do not know who Pop was standing next to but it was an Officer. The cake looks good. Look at all the fresh bread stacked up in the background.
Pop was a good baker and I remember after he retired that he would bake pastries all the time, especially Saturday mornings. For the longest time Pop would be up at 4AM cooking. I guess after 30 years it is hard to change.
I wonder what it was like to sleep without the noise or the rolling of the ship?
