Former festmaster Karl Friedline singing the German National Anthem prior to the Tapping of the Golden Keg. Friedline, 91, says he will keep coming to Oktoberfest as long as he is able to.
From 1973 to 1975 I attended Western Wisconsin Technical Institute, and Karl was the head of the department for the visual communications degree that I received. I owe him a special thanks, not just as a fabulous teacher, but for assisting me and getting my first job out of that school. I became the A/V Specialist and Medical Photographer for Saint Francis Hospital. Little did I know that at the time Karl was on the Board of Directors.
