Subject: NEW LAW EFFECTIVE THAT AUTHORIZES LEAVE CARRY OVER FROM 60 TO 75 DAYS
As published by DFAS at http://www.dfas.mil/mil-news/mar2008/leave.html, a member will be eligible to carry over 75 vice 60 days of leave into a new Fiscal Year. However, please note that this new law is effective on 01 Oct 2008.
This new authorization applies to those individuals who are not already authorized to carry forward more than 60 days leave due to the eligibility criteria described in OPNAVINST 1050.3, par. 3 and 4. We are expecting a MILPERSMAN Article Update and a PPIB Notice from Pers-35 in the near future. We can also expect a MPA from DFAS... FYI -- MPAs and PPIBs are posted at http://www.npc.navy.mil/CommandSupport/PayPersSupport/PASS/, (Left side menu, PASS, MPAs and PPIBs.). In addition, we are anticipating an up-date to OPNAVINST 1050.3... As soon as we receive any of these up-dates, we will get them to you.

Reflections on PO1 Ludwick's
US Navy Service
PLEASE DESCRIBE WHO OR WHAT INFLUENCED YOUR DECISION TO JOIN THE NAVY.
I couldn't see myself working in Safeway in the small town for the rest of my life and my mother left me after I graduated high school. Dad lived in Michigan and I fell in love with the Movie " Top Gun".
WHETHER YOU WERE IN THE SERVICE FOR SEVERAL YEARS OR AS A CAREER, PLEASE DESCRIBE THE DIRECTION OR PATH YOU TOOK. WHERE DID YOU GO TO BOOT CAMP AND WHAT UNITS, BASES, SHIPS OR SQUADRONS WERE YOU ASSIGNED TO? WHAT WAS YOUR REASON FOR LEAVING?
Slow and painful at times, I was stuck at PO1 for almost 11 years and had to retire.
IF YOU PARTICIPATED IN ANY MILITARY OPERATIONS, INCLUDING COMBAT, HUMANITARIAN AND PEACEKEEPING OPERATIONS, PLEASE DESCRIBE THOSE WHICH MADE A LASTING IMPACT ON YOU AND, IF LIFE-CHANGING, IN WHAT WAY?
I can say I was lucky and not lucky. I never went over, tried a couple of times, but was denied because of manning.
