Reflections on PO2 Aochi's US Navy Service

 Reflections On My Service

PLEASE DESCRIBE WHO OR WHAT INFLUENCED YOUR DECISION TO JOIN THE NAVY.
Masao Aochi (Oil King), BT2 - Please describe who or what influenced your decision to join the Navy.
US Navy San Diego NTRC Graduation
While l was attending Oakland City College, Vietnam Conflict was escalating and the Selective Service Office was calling for physical examination. When I received the letter, I went to the station on Clay Street just behind Oakland City Hall, spent over half a day. Upon completion of the examination, I eas has given passing the physical.

And I decided to stop by the Navy Recuiting Office explaining passing the physical examination. The recommended me to take a test and will be processing for joining the 4 years service. Moreover, since I have two years of college credits they recommended me for guaranteed "A" school.

Even though I was holding a permanent residency identification card, I was still Japanese citizenship, the paper processing to join the service has taken longer than expected.
Upon completion of security clearance, I joined the navy on February 1, 1966
