Reflections on LCDR Robertson's US Navy Service

 Reflections On My Service

PLEASE DESCRIBE WHO OR WHAT INFLUENCED YOUR DECISION TO JOIN THE NAVY.
The Air Force recruiter made my decision by sending me next door to the Navy recruiter. The Air Force wasn't interested in high school dropouts in 1963. The Navy was thrilled, especially when I aced the recruitment exam. Otherwise, my father and uncles served in the Navy during WWII - that wasn't a particular inducement since I wasn't on good speaking terms with any of them..
