It was the 60's and the Draft was in order. I joined the Navy so I could get training. I became a JET MECH.

WHETHER YOU WERE IN THE SERVICE FOR SEVERAL YEARS OR AS A CAREER, PLEASE DESCRIBE THE DIRECTION OR PATH YOU TOOK. WHERE DID YOU GO TO BOOT CAMP AND WHAT UNITS, BASES, SHIPS OR SQUADRONS WERE YOU ASSIGNED TO? WHAT WAS YOUR REASON FOR LEAVING?
I became a JET MECH and a PLANE CAPTAIN.

FROM YOUR ENTIRE MILITARY SERVICE, DESCRIBE ANY MEMORIES YOU STILL REFLECT BACK ON TO THIS DAY.
Time on the Flight Deck of the USS Bonhomme Richard in the Gulf Of Tonkin. The friends made during these operations in 1967 and 1968.

UNITED STATES SEVENTH FLEET CITATION. The recognition of my work and passion. NAVY CITATION FOR THE SHIP AND THE AIRWING.

WHICH INDIVIDUAL(S) FROM YOUR TIME IN THE MILITARY STAND OUT AS HAVING THE MOST POSITIVE IMPACT ON YOU AND WHY?
Commander Holmer Smith. The CO of VA-212. I was his plane captain and he and I talked a lot. He was shot down and died, May of 1967.

WHAT PROFESSION DID YOU FOLLOW AFTER YOUR MILITARY SERVICE AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING NOW? IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY SERVING, WHAT IS YOUR PRESENT OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY?
I worked at the airport here in St. Louis for Remernt Warner for a few months but the pay was not there. I went back to Chrysler Corp where I retired from in 1993.

Yes, it has made me appreciate life and family and friends more.

GIVE YOUR BEST. Remember that there are a lot of people who really appreciate you and what you are doing and the sacrifices you are making.
