Reflections on LT Bolger's
US Navy Service
PLEASE DESCRIBE WHO OR WHAT INFLUENCED YOUR DECISION TO JOIN THE NAVY.
I was finishing my first year of college and a friend of the family who worked for the selective service informed me that my number was getting close to being called up. So I decided to go to the recruiting office to see what opportunities might have. Initially I was interested in the Air Force since I had an active duty family member serving at the time. However, the recruiter informed me that he had met his quota and pointed me in the direction of the navy recruiter across the hall. Two weeks later, I was at AFEES for my physical and on my way to boot camp at San Diego.
