The article about Robert Stack neglected to state that the location where he taught was at Alameda NAS. He was my father's gunnery instructor. Michael R. Gain was born in 1917 in Cicero, Illinois. He remained at Alameda during his entire enlistment because he welded the planes back together as they came in for repairs. He worked on them before anyone else did and had to work in a nauseating environment. I was born in 1944 at the temporary Oak Knoll Naval Hospital that was located on the golf course.
