  Obituary: Dec 4, 2016

Beloved husband and father, Charles Douglas Fields, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the age of 77.
Charles retired from the United States Navy and the University of Georgia. His retirement included 20 plus years from each.
He leaves behind his adored wife, Gail; daughter, Wendy; two sons, Danny and David; and seven grandchildren.
He wished for there to be no sadness and funeral. He would like to invite all his friends and family to a Life Celebration Cookout.

Navy Aviation Structural Mechanic (Structures), 1st Class, AMS1 Charles D. Fields was a Plank Owner with Navy Helicopter Attack (Light) Squadron Three, HA(L)-3 in Vietnam from 1967-1968 as a Helicopter Door Gunner with Det 3. He was awarded the Bronze Star for saving an orphanage and convent in ground combat during Tet '68 in addition to an Air Medal (Strike/Flight) and Navy Commendation Medal (Combat V).
