Chief Quartermaster Connors served aboard the Destroyer-Mine Sweeper, USS THOMPSON (DMS-38). On August 20, 1952, his ship received shore battery fire from Songin, North Korea.
He was the grandfather I never met. He died when my dad was 6 years old. Thankfully I have a few pictures and now a little more information about him and his service to our country. My children are participating in a Veteran's Day memorial service at their school and this website provided helpful information about their great grandfather...we are truly proud!
