ADJ2 Chris Winfrey was my sponsor when I arrived at NAS Agana Guam Search & Rescue in May 1977.
He was a quiet kid, married, just had a child. Had an old Ford Pinto that he let us borrow to get around, and ended up buying from him. Floor boards rusted out. Tree fell on it during a typhoon. Funny what you remember sometimes. Had good times. Sorry he had to go in a helo crash at sea like that. Rest in Peace Chris.

Christopher George Winfrey was my father. His hometown was all over Oregon. His mother and his surviving family live in the Rogue Valley. His mother lives and resides in Talent. His wife, who strongly remembers his memory, lives in Medford. As does his siblings. He is survived by three daughters and now 3 grandchildren. His eldest daughter resembles him in look, strength and courage. His youngest daughter reserved his quiet and kind demeanor. Thank you for the Tribute.
