Working at a printed plastics company full time and writing in my free time. I write both Christian fiction and non-fiction and also have a few non-Christian books. My books are available on Amazon. I'm currently an associate member of the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers.
Instead of spending a lot of time on social media, I enjoy coming here to TWS. I think it's interesting researching our fallen fellow shipmates and creating memorial profiles for them. I'm also a member of the TWS Memorial Team and spend time researching and updating memorial profiles created by other members which may be missing information. If you need help creating a profile, editing your own, or need tips or help researching a veteran, please feel free to contact me.
Best Friends I got along with almost everyone in my training company. Names that stand out as friends are Jeannie Fishburn, Diane Freeman, Margaret Hartman, Geri Morizzo, Gilliam Scruggs, and Rebecca Stapp.
Best Moment Should I give the obvious answer and say walking out of the gates for the final time? Overall, I have many good memories of my time at boot camp. I would have to say that the best moment was when my shipmates convinced our CCs to let me carry our company flag. Since the company flag was second only to the Guide On, usually the CCs would've had everyone currently carrying a training flag to shift which would mean someone else would've carried the company flag and, as the chosen new flag barer, I would've been carrying one of the other flags. My shipmates conviced our CCs that since I painted the flag I should be the one to carry it. I felt both honored and proud to be given that position.
Worst Moment Any time our CCs decided it was a good idea to wake us all up in the middle of the night for a surprise inspection. I also hated the idea that everyone had to get reprimanded and/or had to do pushups and so on when only one or two people messed up. I guess that was the CCs way of letting us know we were supposed to be a team and work together ... for good or bad.
Instructors TD1 Helen M CLark and YN2 Jane E Bush were are Company Commanders. Wonder why we had two CCs? It wasn't so one could always be there and the other one could take a break. Well, that was part of it. I think it was so when both of them were there, they could play "good cop, bad cop" or at least the boot camp version of that game.
Other Memories I think my favorite training periods in boot camp were fire fighting and shooting at the range.
