Other Memories
Spinal Minigitus broke out shortly after we arrived so they kept us pretty much away from the infected companies. That suited us fine because we didn't have to do much grinder work. We didn't even get the one day liberty. Our graduation if you want to call it that was pretty short. I also remember this one guy from Oregon. Can't remember his name but he was quite a bit older than us. Anyway one night around two in the morning he wakes me up to give me two cartons of camel's. Say's he was quitting. I ask why he didn't just wait and give them to me the next morning and he said something like it couldn't wait. I go back to sleep and about twenty minutes all hell breaks loose. The night roving watch turned all the barracks lights and is screaming for help. The guy who gave me the smokes had slit both rist and was laying on his back in the middle of the barracks. Medical staff arrived and assessed the cuts. They got really pissed at the guy for doing such a shitty job and commenced to show him how to do it properly. After some cleaning and wrapping they made the guy get dressed and then they took him away. He wound up receiving a medical discharge.
