Best Moment Leaving 011. Just did not fit in with that company commander or his assistant.
Worst Moment With Company 011, Hospital for flu, hospital for measles (caught measles twice in boot camp!), 3 short tours, sent to administration processing for discharge from the Navy.
At the discharge board, I was asked, "if I wanted to stay in or go home?" To their complete disbelief, I replied, "I wanted to stay in!"
After they deliberated for about an hour; reading my reasons why I wanted to stay, they agreed but said I needed a real fresh start. They told me they were sending me back to "Processing and Orientation, Day 1." By that time I had been in boot camp for about two months. Uniforms had time to shrink and fade, and my shoes looked like mirrors; in addition, I needed a haircut. I had never made it far enough to get my second haircut, without something going wrong. I turned a two month boot camp into four months, followed up by another two weeks at apprenticeship training.
