EO3 Leonard Michael Ackerman Equipment Operator 3rd Class, U.S.N.
Clinton Township: EO/3 Leonard M. Ackerman, 22, of 26616 Eaton, was killed at Chu Lui, Vietnam Friday, March 20, when his truck hit a land mine. Mr. Ackerman enlisted in the Navy, 1968 and was with the Seabees. He had been in Vietnam since September, and was on his second tour of duty. Born April 8, 1948 in Mount Clemens, he married the former Sally Ann Galiati May 10, 1969. Mr. Ackerman had been employed with Chrysler Corporation before enlisting in the service. He is survived by his wife and son Chad; also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Ackerman of Fraser; four brothers, Al Jr., Mark, David and Paul, and four sisters, Marilon, Lois, Lori, and Lynn, all at home. Also, his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Eleanor Case and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Sadie Ackerman. He attended Sacred heart school in Fraser and graduated from Fraser High School in 1966. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Kaul Funeral Home, 27830 Gratiot, Roseville, and 11 a.m. at St. Thecia Church with the Rev. Mario DiGuilo, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Detroit.
