Mr. Charles New Angevine, 86, resident of Lake City, died Saturday morning, December 10, 2011, at his home, of natural causes. He was born in Hydeville, Vt., to the late Elmer and Maude Rivers Angevine. He lived in Windsor Locks, Conn., from 1954 until 1994 and lived in Lake City, Fla., since 1995. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and participated in six naval battles in the Southwestern Pacific. He was a charter member of the U.S. Navy Memorial and a member of the USS KIDD Association. He also had been a charter member of the National Insulator Association. After his Navy service, he attended Roosevelt Aviation School where he earned his aircraft and aircraft engine mechanic licenses. He also attended Rutland Flying School where he earned his commercial pilot license. Prior to his retirement in January 1986, he was employed by Kaman Aerospace Corp. in a variety of positions for a total of 34 years. He also enjoyed woodworking, genealogy, and was an avid reader and enjoyed emailing his friends. He enjoyed traveling the country with his wife in earlier years.
