 Additional Information
Last Known Activity:

LTJG White was serving as the rear seat gunner aboard a TBM-1C Avenger piloted by LT George Bush on September 2, 1944. The plane experienced problems when hit by anti-aircraft fire and LT Bush ordered the crew (LTJG White and ARM2 J L Deleaney) to abandon the aircraft. Only two of the men got out of the plane - LT Bush and one other - and it is unknown which other crew member that was. That man's parachute failed to open and the other man went down with the plane. LTJG White's remains were never recovered and he was later declared dead.
