Lawrence Everett "Larry" Poulin, 93, of died Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City.

Larry was born on Saturday, September 3, 1921 in Cheboygan.

Larry honorably served our country in the United States Navy in WWII. He was captured by the Japanese and spent three and a half years in a prison camp. Larry was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Silver Star.

In the 1960's Larry owned and operated a sporting goods store in Suttons Bay, carrying Wilson Sporting goods and a large inventory of fishing tackle. Following that, he worked for 25 years at Parsons Corporation as a machinist. He was a member of the VFW in Lake Leelanau and was also a member of AmVets. Larry enjoyed coin and stamp collecting.

Larry is survived by his son Jim of Traverse City; a daughter, Gail Kiessel of Traverse City; 6 grandchildren, Lisa, Jeff, Brian, Mark, Denny and Jonathon and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Karen Annis and Bonnie Shea.

Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 1 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
