Dr. Pollard served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps for 27 years and retired in 1968 with the rank of Captain.
Survivors include children, Ann Pollard Cleveland, Joseph Lawrence Pollard, & Mary Kathryn Pollard Strong; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Ruth Pollard (married 1941-died 1970) and Marietta Klee Pollard (married 1971-died 2005).
Dr. Pollard obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA in 1935, and his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1939 from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, VA. Upon his retirement from the Navy,
Dr. Pollard became Director of Biological & Medical Sciences Division of the Office of Naval Research. He was recipient of the Theodore C. Lyster Award of the Aerospace Medical Association for outstanding accomplishment in the field of aerospace medicine.
Interment followed funeral services conducted in Tappahannock, VA, Thursday, October 19, 2006.
