WORLD WAR II CALIFORNIA ENSIGN US NAVY GOLD STAR LIST
Aubrey Warren Ackley served in the United States Navy as an ensign. He met death in November, 1944, while serving his country in the South Pacific. Ackley attended the Hanford Union High School where he was active in student affairs. He graduated with the class of 1936. The Navy officer was the son of Charles Ruhama and Bessie Jewell (Pyle) Ackley of Bakersfield.

16 MARCH 1944 / BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIA NEWSPAPER ACCOUNT: Ensign Aubrey W. Ackley is spending a two weeks' furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles n. Ackley, 2301 Morton avenue. He received his training at St. Mary's, Pasco, Wash., Corpus Christl, Texas, and Jacksonville, Fla. He will report to North Island, San Diego, after his furlough. He was Killed In Action, 16 November 1944 in the South Pacific.
