JAMES "JIM" ROBERT (Bainter) EICH, 66, of Stark Highway, Stark, died peacefully on September 4, 2013 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon due to complications from injuries received in an accident at his home on August 25th. He was born in Galesburg, Illinois on January 26, 1947 a son of Robert Bainter and Mary Lee (Boyer) Bainter.
Jim was a US Navy Seabees Veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict.
Jim has been a resident of Stark since 1982. He worked as a master electrician for James River in Berlin for about 6 years; he then worked on a farm for a few years before going to Plymouth State and received his bachelor?s degree in education in 1989. After losing his eyesight he started Oxbow Farm Apple Orchard and spent much of his time in the orchard.
Jim was a Selectman for the Town of Stark for over 20 years; cemetery sexton for 5 years; executive board member of NHMA for 18 years; member of the Stark Improvement fund for 25 years; and was a substitute teacher and computer teacher at the Stark Village School for several years.
He enjoyed fishing; was an armature HAM Radio operator and will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Cecile (Landry) Eich of Stark; his mother Mary Lee Eich of Madison, Wisconsin; four children Bob Eich and wife Vanessa of Jefferson; Sarah Guinn and husband Will of Owls Head, Maine; Martha Eich of Stark; and Matthew Eich and wife Heather of Stark; six grandchildren Kayla Sheltry; Hunter Savage; Cameron Eich; Lilah Eich; Liam Guinn and Jameson Eich; two sisters Robin Eich of London, Wisconsin; and Jennifer Eich of Los Angeles, California; two brothers David Eich of China and John Eich of Madison, Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews.
Jim is predeceased by his father Robert Bainter and his step-father Leonard Eich.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 5-8 pm with military service at 7:15 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Emerson Road Cemetery in Stark with Fr. Daniel Deveau of St. Francis Xavier Church, pastor officiating.
