Blair A. Cessna blairc@exotrope.net Shipmate on USS Dupont DD941 1195 Wyncoop Creek Rd. Chemung, NY 14825 USA
Other than my father, no man has had more of an influence on my life than Frank. I knew Frank only briefly, less than a year. In that time we only casually chatted in our berthing compartment. I was a Radarman on board the Dupont and we were about the same age. We were both shy, as most all of us "kids" were then. We were all naive to the importance of what we were doing. Frank's duties during gunfire missions was to make sure watertight integrity was maintained on the aft starboard hatch. The doorway had become buckled during extensive gunfire from our 5' 54 gun mounts. He gave his life protecting the rest of his shipmates. I remember and think of you often Frank. God Bless your soul. To the Bellant family I say, Be Proud of your Frank. I am! He was a great man.
