LCDR Robert G. Kerr, Sr., LCDR Leo C. Hester Sr., ADR1 Cecil L Chapman, and AE3 Francis R. Ferron Jr., were killed when their cargo plane, a C-47, crashed into a hillside while flying an administrative flight from Cam Ranh Air Base to Tan So Nhut Air Base, Vietnam. The aircraft they were flying also had 21 passengers onboard.
