He was the beloved husband of Gloria (Savard) Loomis for 55 years and loving father of their children Kimberly L. Roderick and her husband, John; Jacqueline L. Jordan and her husband, David; Steven D. Loomis. Born in Jackson, MI, he was a son of the late Walter F. and Elsa C. (Frankeberger) Loomis. He was the loving father of Corydon M. Loomis, Jr., Bonnie J. Hern, Diane L. Shepheard, and David B. Loomis; devoted grandfather of Kauri-Lynn, Joshua, John, Tyler, Jared, Garrett, Benjamin, Ashley, and Gregory. He was the brother of Claire Moss, Nadine Knowles, Ellen Hatch, and the late Walter Loomis, Jr.

Mr. Loomis was a proud veteran of the US Navy, enlisting on August 21, 1947, just 17 days after his 17th birthday. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars aboard many ships including aircraft carriers USS Coral Sea and USS Essex as well as ten (10) submarines - USS Sablefish (where he was nicknamed "Doc"), USS Blenny, USS Conger, USS Sarda, the nuclear-powered USS Triton (credited with the first submerged circumnavigation of the earth in Operation Sandblast), atomic-powered USS Seawolf, USS Sea Owl, USS Shark, USS Canopus, and USS Fulton.

As a loving and devoted Grampie, Cory taught his grandchildren to fish, how to play Hearts, took them to get doughboys, and cooked his special meals for them, including home-made apple sauce and corn-on-the-cob. Above all, Corydon lived life and faced death with courage and dignity.
