The Day I Understood Vietnam Was More than pictures on tv.
Posted for: RONALD EDWARD ROCKEFELLER:

The Day I Understood Vietnam Was More than pictures on tv was the day my mother told me Ron had been killed. She told me he had been shot in the neck. I have never forgotten that moment and up till then Vietnam was something that I didn't understand and it didn't effect me. I grew up in Linlithgo, NY. Ron and his family lived there for a while. I knew Ron although he was older than me. We rode the school bus together(If my memory hasn't failed me). I remember he was always fun and smiled a lot. Ron's death marked my
ascention from thinking like a child to thinking like a man. I joined the Army Reserves as a Medic. I was called a coward. But I saw the importance of his death and swore that I would not kill nor be killed for a civil war half way around the world. Ron, God bless you and keep you eternally in peace.
