Mark was in a motorcycle accident on Friday, July 15th at 9:00 p.m. He has multiple broken bones on his left side and a lacerated spleen. He was transferred from Mary Washington Hospital Saturday evening to the critical are unit at MCVU in Richmond.
Due to complications from the spleen and some other health issues, other organs are having difficulty functioning properly. His spleen was removed on Monday, July 18th which helped him become a little more stable.
His liver has been damaged beyond repair and he now faces a liver transplant after he recovers from his current condition.
Mark is in very critical condition but remains strong. His family and friends have surrounded him with love and support, and especially with prayers. Church after church are offering up their prayer chains.
We also wish to express our deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at MCVU who are caring for Mark. They are a phenomenal team and we know Mark is in the best possible hands God has to offer.
We, as a family, feel truly blessed to have such wonderful people loving our brother as much as we do. Please continue to pray for Mark. It is our belief the God has great plans for him. And through His amazing grace, Mark will make a full recovery. Tonight, when you go to bed, tell your family how much they mean to you and how much you love them. Life is short. Don't waste a single second.
God bless you all for the outpouring of love Mark has received.
It is with very heavy hearts we must tell you that our beloved Mark, "reMarkable" Mark, passed away at 11:46 a.m. this morning, July 30, 2011. He just couldn't keep fighting. While we are heartbroken beyond belief, we know he is in a much better place. Our Lord has taken him in the palm of His hand and is holding him close to His heart.
Mark touched so many lives, in ways he could never possibly know. I feel in my heart, down to my soul, and with all the faith I have, that the Lord has bigger plans for Mark, next to Him rather than here on earth.
We know Mark is already watching down on us and will continue to love each and everyone of us and will stand by us throughout our lives.
Mark, my love, we know you are finally home and you now can ask our Father all those questions you've been waiting to ask Him about.
We ALL love you. Peace, Grace and God's Mercy to you, our beloved Mark, and to all your friends, family and loved ones.
