Lawrence Mark Bareford, 47, of Fredericksburg, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 at VCU Medcial Center in Richmond.

Mr. Bareford taught 8th grade science at Walker Grant Middle School. He was a survivor of the USS Stark in 1987 where many of his shipmates lost their lives. Mark was involved with many churches, including Fairview Baptist and The Lord's Church in Fredericksburg where he was a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Kitty Bareford; his daughter, Alison Bareford; his son, Joshua Bareford, all of Fredericksburg; his brothers, Rod Winkler, of Fredericksburg, Darryl Bareford, of Mechanicsville and Dale Bareford, of Fredericksburg; his sister, Michelle Ridler, of Moncks Corner, SC; and his dearest friend, who enriched his life, Karen Rosica, of Culpeper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beale and Nancy Bareford.

The family will receive friends from 6-9pm, Tuesday, August 2 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A funeral service will be held at 10am, Wednesday, August 3 at the funeral home chapel, with the Pastor Jim Weadon and the Rev. Robert W. Sizemore officiating. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery. The family will have a gathering for friends and family at Fairview Baptist Church after the interment.

Memorials may be made in his name to The Lord's Church, 10013 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Ste. 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
