Lenny was my best friend. We grew up together since late grade
school age. We double-dated, went on various adventures together,
and even competed for the same girlfriend once (the one that got
away from both of us). We went to rival high schools and there
was no end of bragging when one football team "upset" the other.
(Although, as I remember it, Northbridge won most of the time!:-)

I will never forget the great times we had when he was stationed
in Newport, R.I. The beach, the sand, the girls (of course).
Lenny was the kind of guy who would literally give you the shirt
off his back. He held no pretensions. He never lacked for
courage. His love for God, family and country was evident from
his youth and he gave up his life for those precious things.
Lenny was a living testimony to his Lord and Saviour, Jesus
Christ and now lives with Him forevermore.

Three times he was wounded for those he loved. The first was
shrapnel in the leg. The second, a sucking chest wound from
an AK-47. Before the third -- and final -- incident, Lenny had
the option to come home. He chose, instead, to return to aid
his fellow servicemen as the excellent Navy Corpsman that he
was. As a result, the jeep he was riding in hit a land mine and
ended Lenny's life here on earth. "Doc" Chesley went to meet
that Physician of all physicians, Jesus Christ, on that day.

I miss him still, today.
