LeRoy O. (Lee) Bauer, 87, of North Port Florida passed away November 18, 2012. He was born October 25, 1925 in Meeker, Ohio and moved to Florida in 1975 from Galion Ohio. Mr. Bauer was the owner of Bauer Barbershop in Galion. He was a life time member of the Elks, American Legion and the V.F.W. Mr. Bauer served in the Navy during World War II in the Submarine Division serving on the USS Narwahl, USS Sablefish and the USS Pelias.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years Mary Lou, daughter Mindy (Mike) Hamilton of Cape Coral, FL; sons, Mark (Grace) of Fort Myers, FL; Malcolm (Terri) of Englewood, FL; sister, Margaret McCoy of Marion, OH; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Lois Rhodes.

USS Narwhal (SS-167) Commander William G. Holman in command. Narwhal based at Mios Woendi, Dutch New Guinea, before starting on her 15th and last war patrol ? from 11 October-2 November ? with Commander William G. Holman in command. Friday the 13th brought a near attack by a PBY Catalina. Once the submarine was recognized, the aircraft signaled "GOOD LUCK NARWHAL." The evening of 17 October she was off a Tawi Tawi beach to deliver 11 short tons (10.0 t) of food stuffs. Two days later she unloaded the rest of her cargo and 37 men at Negros Island and took on her last passengers, 26 in all, for the trip to Brisbane.
