Details Behind Award
For meritorious achievement in action against enemy Japanese forces in the Pacific War Area on July 8, 1944. As a section leader of a four-plane division flying combat air patrol over his Task Group, promptly answered a call to assist a group of fighters in combat with enemy aircraft thirty miles distant. Upon reaching the scene of action, he courageously entered the fight and, pressing home his attack, shot down one enemy plane out of a total of three destroyed by his division.
