My Grandfather did 16 years in the Navy and loved every day of it. He would have stayed in for who knows how long but got out only to run my Great Grandfather's business in Corpus Christi, Texas. In the last days of his life, he lived with my Mom who took care of him until he died of unknown causes on 26 December 1996.
In my Grandfather's will, he left me a few things that are very special to me. First and formost, his Naval Academy ring. He also left me various items like some of his passports, medals and personnel papers.
I realize that some of the dates for the medals are probably wrong. All of the medals were willed to me and are now in a very nice shadowbox that my Mother-in-law had made.
