George Anderson Wolf, Jr., was born 1 December 1917 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to George Anderson and Dorthea Love (Prendergast) Wolf; he had two brothers and four sisters. Some records indicate his middle name as being Alexanderson but the pension file filled out by his mother indicates Anderson was his middle name. George attended the Waldron Academy in Philadelphia then the St. Johnâ??s parochial school in Altoona and the Altoona Catholic High School, graduating in 1935 with honors. He was an associate in the Wolf Furniture Store with his father and uncle for about 18 months.
