General Orders: All Hands (August 1963)
Citation: The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Captain Page Knight, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from June 1960 to June 1963 as Assistant Chief of Staff or Plans on Staff of CINCLANT and CINCLANTFLT. During this three-year period of recurring international crises involving all the areas for which CINCLANT is responsible for required to support, Captain Knight personally supervised preparation of all general war, contingency and cold war plans and was responsible for generation of strategic studies leading to new concepts and command policy. He provided the Commander in Chief sound, feasible and economical courses of action. During the Cuban crisis of 1962 he supervised the details of execution of all facets of the strategic plan of CINCLANT, and of the operational plans of the Army, Naval and Air Force components.
