Stephen Clegg Rowan was a vice admiral in the United States Navy, who had a 63-year career, which was one of the longest in the history of the United States Navy.

   
Other Comments:

Four ships in the United States Navy have been named USS Rowan after VADM Rowan.

VADM Rowan never held the rank of Master, later to be called LT(jg), nor LCDR and was promoted to CAPT and Commodore on the same day in 1862.

Description
On February 10, 1862 there was a small battle between the Confederate States of America and the United States of America near Elizabeth City on the Pasquotank River. It was nothing more then a skirmish and casualties were light.
