In the Beginning
At the time of commissioning the new squadron was equipped with HO4S helicopters. Shortly after its return to NAAS Ream Field in August 1956, HS-6 began her transitioning to the SH-34, and a new mission; Anti-Submarine Warfare fighting against the emerging threat from nuclear-powered submarines and cruise missiles.
