VA-82 Marauders 		Redesignated VFA-82 when she became the first operational squadron to recieve the FA-18C.  
Such a distinguished honor for such a superb squadron, it was a piss poor thing to do to disband her.

We & 86 were the 1st units to deploy with the C's, the 1st unit to deploy with the A's were 25 & 113 in 1985. I was at hyd school in Lemoore & our OJT was getting those A/C ready to go on the deployment. Why were we sent there instead of 125 to finish our schooling, good question. The answer is simple. The guys in 113 didn't want to go, so they started breaking limbs to get out of the trip. They asked my class if any of us wanted to volunteer to go to replace the broken guys. I volunteered but my unit I was going too (106) wouldn't release me.
