Memories For This Unit

Best Friends
Jimmy Austin AK2, Frank Miller AK1, Bones Hamilton AK2, Walt Kilgus AK1, Zeke Zabito AK2 and many more. Best Ship I ever served in.

Worst Moment
Surviving Atlantic Storm between Azores and Bermuda returning from 73-74 deployment to Med. Lost 8 planes and one CPO dead, and 2 PO's critically injured, lost catwalk on both port and starboard, all outside antennas, hanger bay one doors on starboard elevator. Caught Barracuda in passageway on 01 level.

Chain of Command
Remember Capt. Youngblade and Capt. Morin (later Rear Admiral)

Other Memories
Served as a member of Ship's Company in S1C Division. We did cargo/storeroom's storage and break-outs. Drove forklift on flight deck during all replenishments. Hard work, slept good.
