What are you doing now:

I was asked by my wife one day "What was I going to do today?" I said nothing.
Then she said, "But that is what you did yesterday".
And I said "I'm not finished yet"

I just got out of Intensive Care

Other Comments:

FYI: To those whom I have added to my shipmates list, let it be known that I add those who have or are serving where I have served, or same rating, or from Texas. To me "together we served" says it all, be it past present or future. We all have a job to do. I and my shipmates have done our parts.

Attention:

Within my Fallen Shipmates you will find  some very find hero's that gave their all,  I was very privileged to serve along side them.

Memories For This Unit

Best Moment
There were 4 of us in the forward paint locker joking around. We didn't know that we were in a very dense fog situtation. 3 of us were from the south and the other kid was from New York. We were telling him about how we coon hunted back home. We were using a Sucide Nozzle as a horn showing how we called the dogs. We didn't pay attention, that every time we blew the nozzle, we heard the ships horn. After about 20 minutes, we heard a knock on the hatch. We opened it and there stood the XO with a great big smile. he said the captain wanted to see us. As we climed out of the paint locker we noticed that there were shipmates every 10 feet around the ship. It was still very foggy. After we explained to the captain what we were doing, he laugh. That was short lived. He said that for 20 minutes they were trying to locate the ship that was sounding its fog horn. They couldn't find it on radar. Well we all got 30 days of extra duty and confined to the ship. Wasn't funny after all.

Worst Moment
I was the Crows Nest watch and we were caught in the middle of a Typhon. Was tied to the mask.
We were at Adak & Attu Islands patroling and got too close to Russia. We found ourselves surronded by Russian Gun Boats and escorted back to the saft zone.

Other Memories
A. We had a Abandon Ship Drill and when the cordiniates were given the XO stated that the closest land was 1.9 miles; straight down.
B. I was told that a seabat was caught on the fantail so I went to see it. As soon as my head came out of the hatch I seen the Ensign see the bat. I felt like I didnt need to see it.
c. Got to stand my first mail Bouy watch.
