Laid down 22 June 1942 by the Nashville Bridge Co., Nashville, TN Launched 24 September 1942 Commissioned 10 April 1943 PC-623 earned four battle stars during World War II while assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific theater for participation in the following operations: Western Caroline Islands Operation, Capture and Occupation of Southern Palau Islands, 6 September - 14 October 1944 Leyte Operations, Leyte Landings, 10 - 29 November 1944 Lingayen Gulf, 4 - 18 January 1945; and Manila Bay-Bicol Operations, Nasugbu, 31 January - 10 February 1945 Participated in the rescue of survivors of Task Unit 77.4.3 (Taffy III) from the carrier Gambier Bay (CVE 73), the destroyer escort Samuel B. Roberts (DE 413) and the destroyer Hoel (DD 533) lost during the Battle off Samar Island, 24 - 26 October 1944 Struck from the Naval Register 17 April 1946 Sold in January 1947 Fate unknown. Specifications: Displacement 295 t.(lt), 450 t.(fl) Length 173' 8" Beam 23' Draft 10' 10" Speed 20.2 kts. Complement 65 Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, one 40mm gun mount;, three 20mm guns, two rocket launchers, four depth charge projectors, and two depth charge tracks Propulsion: Two 1,440bhp General Motors 16-258S diesel engines (Serial No. 10847 and 10848), Westinghouse single reduction gear, two shafts.
