EM3 Forward was a member of the crew of the USS Grayback (SS-208). For reasons not yet discovered (unavailable via internet sources), he was aboard a plane that was forced into a water landing off the coast of Midway Island on November 13, 1943. The plane sank and EM3 Dewey's body was not recovered. He was later declared dead.
