Eternal Father, bless Thy Chiefs
Who guide and lead with firm beliefs
In Courage, Commitment and Honor bright.
Strengthen with Thy holy might
Those who wear the anchors of the CPO.
O, guard them, Lord, where're they go."
Chief Petty Officer Erik E. Lindebak of Great Lakes, IL
"It is also not irrational for Congress to decide that, even though it will not subsidize substantial lobbying by charities generally, it will subsidize lobbying by veterans' organizations. Veterans have "been obliged to drop their own affairs and take up the burdens of the nation," ?, "subjecting themselves to the mental and physical hazards as well as the economic and family detriments which are peculiar to military service and which do not exist in normal civil life." ?. Our country has a long standing policy of compensating veterans for their past contributions by providing them with numerous advantages. This policy has "always been deemed to be legitimate." ?U.S. Supreme Court Regan v. Taxation with Representation, 461 U.S. 540 (1983)
"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have". - Thomas Jefferson
Best Moment MAC and I were up for shore duty orders and I had been trying (unsuccessfully of course) to get ahold of the detailer. MAC strolls into Sonar Control announcing that he just got orders to ATG and that there was just one more billet open. Well I hurried down to the department office phone and just beat some khaki to the phone and luckily snagged that last billet. So back up to Sonar I go. MAC and I are dosey doeing when WHAM!! I nailed my head on the 21MC speaker and BAM!! down I go to the deck. As I lay holding my head and all my shipmates are laughing their asses off, I couldn't help but realize I was going to shore duty and they were going on another Med/IO deployment. Who's laughing now?!!!
