WALTER THOMAS "TIM" BAUN, 73, Indianapolis, died Nov. 11. He graduated high school in 1943 and worked as an engineer for Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors Corp., retiring in 1986. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Indiana Internal Security Corps. He was member of the Scottish Rite and past master of Masonic Lodge, Deming. Burial was at Zionsville Cemetery.
Other Memories The Indiana Internal Security Corps an organization which would serve as the state's "home guard" in case of war is making plans for a big recruiting drive to swell its ranks to 18,000 men. Col. Roy L. Voistad of Indianapolis, carps chief of staff, said yesterday that the group has a long way to go before leaching this goal. So far, only 1,800 men have volunteered. Service in the organization is on a strictly voluntary basis, Col. Volstad said. Members are not paid unless they are called to active duty in event of war or major disaster. Established early in 1954, the Internal Security Corps normally serves as a "reserve" unit of the Indiana National Guard. Most of the key posts in the organization have been filled by retired Army officers.
