Lake Wales - Richard Howard (Dick) Hopp Jr:  Born in Cincinnati, OH 11 June 1933 to Richard Howard  Sr and Helen (Wetterer) Hopp.   Married to Shirley (Russell) on 14 JAN 1956; had 5 children, Richard William (Rusty), Anthony Scott (Tony), Therasa Ann (Terri), Rhonda Maria (Ronni/Bunni), and Parick Shannon (Pat). 

Service USN June 1950 to June 1954; He was on the Following Boats - USS TORSK (SS 423).  Upon completing his Naval Service, Returned to the Cincinnati Area and applied to be a Pipefitter Aprentice with the Steamfitter Local Union
392 in Cincinnati, OH; following his Dad.  Dick, worked his way up and by some, was considered to be the Best Welder and Pipefitter of them all.   Was a Nuc Welder, Leaking Gas (Natural Gas) Lines, Underway welding. 

His last position before finally retiring for good was he was the Project Manager (while working for the Dept of Energy) for the Replacing the Power plant in Chernobyl, Ukraine.

Since the early 80's have lived in various places in Florida, off and on ... finally settling in Lake Wales area 2000, after fully retiring as an Engineer.  He was very proud of this time in the Navy, he had a Son and 2 Grandsons that have followed his example and have served in the US Navy. 

Dick (Dad) never met a Man he did not like or become a friend. 

He died at home on Sep 9th, 2014.

   
Other Comments:

He was a Member of several Veterans Groups, the VFW, American Legion, and Submarine League.  Dad is survived by the Love of his Life, Shirley Hopp (My Mom), 5 Children, 11 Grandchildren, and 17 Great Grandchildren.  One Son Retired from the NAVY, and 1 Grandson  currectly Serving in the NAVY.

Laid to rest at Bushnell National Cemetery in Florida.
