Harry Dunn Jr began his Navy career aboard the USS Preston (DD-19) during WWI with a temporary rank of Ensign. He then entered the Navy Academy in 1919, graduating in the class of 1923. He was promoted to Rear Admiral upon his retirement in June 1954.
