 Additional Information
Last Known Activity:

Forrest Percival Sherman was an admiral in the United States Navy and the youngest person to serve as Chief of Naval Operations until Admiral Elmo Zumwalt in 1970.

Admiral Forrest P. Sherman, CNO of the United States Navy, died unexpectedly on 22 July 1951 in Naples, Italy, at the age of 54. Adm. Sherman had been touring the NATO defense area and visiting Admiral Robert B. Carney, Commander NATO Forces in southern Europe, as his last stop before returning to the United States. Admiral Sherman suffered a heart attack early in the morning and a second fatal heart attack just after noon.

Other Comments:

Two ships in the United States Navy have been named USS Forrest Sherman for Admiral Forrest Sherman.
