Best Moment Becoming the first CT to complete the OS-0302 NTDS User course at FCDSSA Dam Neck, VA as a pre-requisite for writing software requirements for AEGIS, CG-26 and CGN clas ships.
Worst Moment Being notified that the instructor I had taught at RCA Moorestown on the applications of the Tactical Signals Operator array select, had died. I then went TAD to Naval Systems Training Center Moorestown to take over his class for PCO's, Combat Systems Officers and C&D sailors. Captain (later ADM and CJCS) Mike Mullen was one of my students.

Other Memories BUPERS calling me to tell me I had been selected for promotion to Senior Chief...then chewing me out for screwing up their whole system. When I took the SCPO exam 6 months before, the bureau has sent me the "I" branch vice "R' Branch exam. They then gave me the option to take the "I" exam, or wait six months. I took the "I" exam, and not only passed, but had the top score for anyone. The detailler had to figure out what to do and gave me the choice of being a CTICS or a CTRCS. I picked the latter and the detailler was greatly relieved. So I was happily in the first increment of promotions. I was already happy having made Chief after being told on disenrolling from OCS that I'd never wear khaki (for one cycle the Navy did not look at service jackets, just test scores and eval numbers...so I slipped in as a Chief.
